Pleasant Hill Pool - 2024 Swim Lessons
**Swimmers in the Starfish lesson level will be required to have a parent in the water for all lessons.
SWIM LESSON LEVELS
Starfish (Ages 6 months - 3 years) - 30 minute class
Parent must accompany child in the water
Goal is to have both the parent and child be comfortable in the water and see the pool as fun
Parents and children will play games, sing songs and be introduced to basic water skills such as blowing bubbles, kicking and being in different body positions
Sea Turtles (Ages 3-5 years) - 30 minute class
Children are not expected to swim on their own and will be assisted by an instructor
Goal is to make the children feel comfortable and aware of their surroundings in water
Children will learn how to safely enter and exit the water, submerge their mouth, nose and eyes practicing breath control, front and back float, changing direction in water and swimming on front and back with assistance
Seahorses (Ages 3-5 years) - 30 minute class
Goal is to teach children fundamental skills in the water
Children will learn how to safely step or jump into the water, submerge their entire head with breath control, open eyes underwater, front and back glide, swim on front and back with assistance
Stingrays (Ages 6-12 years) - 30 minute class
Children should be confident enough to swim on their own
Goal is for children to be able to confidently demonstrate different strokes and build on skills from the Jellyfish Level
Children will learn to dive from a kneeling position, tread water, improve stroke development and build endurance through swimming farther distances
Sharks (Ages 6-12 years) - 30 minute class
Goal is for the children to be proficient in swimming all the strokes, dives, as well as swimming at greater distances.
Children will learn to swim continuously for at least 300 yards using each of the different strokes; front and back crawl, breakstroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke and butterfly. Children will also learn to use the feet first entry dive to retrieve a submerged object from 10 feet deep
